To Group Kartigha, Shi Qi & Pamela

No offense but I think you guys are over-complicating what is potentially a very simple scheme (and because you are over-doing it, even the proportions of your bench are turning out horrible. You don't want to know what it resembles for me).

Have a look at anamorphic art. Look it up.

The example above if from Dezeen.com and is the Leo Burnett offices in Singapore designed by Ministry of Design.

There are lots of examples of this being done and it is a simple matter of patterning. There's also a video somewhere on the net but I can't for the life of me recall where I last found it, but as soon as I do I'll post it up here.

You girls better work fast, so far your work is nowhere at par with the rest.

The factory that selling metal. If u go n search it from google map it will have the other adds. i not sure which adds is the one i went, but it's near Selangor Bus Sdn Bhd (if u know this).

It's opposite is a timber factory and it's quite big. If any of u going, please prepare enough detailing drawing (printed and with dimension). If you have bending u have to show the angle of bending too. However i'm not sure how much he knows cause as what i know he is more on selling and manufacturing.

Just like what i said, they are not bending or cutting the metal on site, they have another factory at selangor (which idk where is it).

my fren and i will be going next week but we havent decide when are we going, so we might post here or facebook to inform. anyway if you all needs some laser cutting service (for special material such as timber, perspex) can follow us as well cause we know 1-2 shops that having this service.

if wanna cut the timber like what wilse and joeyee group did, i would like to show you where is it too.

anyway, goodluck dears~ ^^

THE CRANE IN DISGUISE

Further elaboration of the concept: The bench is the 1st step for the public to get kick start to the complicated story behind the crane n the drum; And it is not to symbolize the crane as it is DEVELOPED from the crane symbol and not meant to SYMBOLIZE it.

Add Image

How to get them 'kick started'?
The design of the chair is of this way to trigger their curiosity. Once they are curious(if they are) they will take one step ahead to understand more about the bench. Then this is when they gain knowledge on the concept behind it and also the origin of the crane in the vietnamese bronze drums .

The bench plays its role as an introduction of the story. An introduction should be simple yet attractive enough so that the main body of the story gets to be read. When anyone gets curios about the design, i can say our main intention is fulfilled. Rest of the job, leave it to the storyboard and google.

Here are some pics of the study model 1:10

My apology for not attending the class today sir. I accidentally doze off the entire day due to the previous sleepless nights(including today for working on this board over the night). Okay, The concept was a slight different from what Lily and Bosco have presented to you , didn't managed to inform her about the changes due to the incident.Other than that, they are mostly identical. Hope to get some feedback on the design from everyone. Once again....i am really sorry ...=(

Tomorrow's Key Session.

Alright, so tomorrow is the big day, make sure you come prepared(, look and smell decent at least). As said, we hope there will be sufficient work uploaded by tonight.
We have set this task, with the client review, to be worth 50%.
And we shall release the marks of the previous task this evening. The precedent studies would be graded based on rigorousness of research; 10%.

The remaining 40% would come from your coordination of the final weeks, we shall evaluate that based on your ability to plan the construction of your piece, and the complexity of materials+connections in the final product.

Also a reminder, each group's scale model will be on display at MAP for KLDesignWeek from next Friday onwards, so please do us proud by producing something of PUBLIC VIEWING quality!

P.S. Just in case you are not sure what sort of profile/scrutiny those models would be under, have a look again at http://www.kualalumpurdesignweek.com.my/
