THE CRANE IN DISGUISE

Further elaboration of the concept: The bench is the 1st step for the public to get kick start to the complicated story behind the crane n the drum; And it is not to symbolize the crane as it is DEVELOPED from the crane symbol and not meant to SYMBOLIZE it.

How to get them 'kick started'?
The design of the chair is of this way to trigger their curiosity. Once they are curious(if they are) they will take one step ahead to understand more about the bench. Then this is when they gain knowledge on the concept behind it and also the origin of the crane in the vietnamese bronze drums .

The bench plays its role as an introduction of the story. An introduction should be simple yet attractive enough so that the main body of the story gets to be read. When anyone gets curios about the design, i can say our main intention is fulfilled. Rest of the job, leave it to the storyboard and google.

Here are some pics of the study model 1:10

My apology for not attending the class today sir. I accidentally doze off the entire day due to the previous sleepless nights(including today for working on this board over the night). Okay, The concept was a slight different from what Lily and Bosco have presented to you , didn't managed to inform her about the changes due to the incident.Other than that, they are mostly identical. Hope to get some feedback on the design from everyone. Once again....i am really sorry ...=(

Mike, thanks for yr post. I think the crane becomes way too distorted at the end, both in literal form and ephemeral meaning. Cranes are symbols of longevity and hope for many Asian livelihoods, how does yr piece exude that as a symbol? Or is that not the case? Also, I feel there is a rather coerced creation of iterations lacking any form of scientific analogy to it's evolutions, doing it for the sake of doing iterations rather than having substance nor purpose. I just felt yr grp has to do justice to such a beautiful culturally deeply rooted figurine such as the crane and prevent preconceived techniques to distort the essences and purity in ideals of the crane. Chk with yr teammates what we brainstormed on Friday. Best.
